Hi everyone, It's Zari!
Today, I thought I could teach you a little bit about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), a personality test created by Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers.

The MBTI is an introspective self-report questionnaire indicating differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions.
The Myers-Briggs assessment is far more than just a personality questionnaire. Its benefits include:

  • A common language for understanding and describing the interpersonal differences that define us as individuals

  • An easy-to-understand but sophisticated way of understanding how people are similar and how they are different
  • Memorable and inspiring insights that help people understand challenging relationships

  • A positive view of all personalities, which avoids defensiveness and invites people to make genuine and lasting changes to their behavior

  • The MBTI framework is designed specifically for individual growth and development. As such, the assessment and interpretation process provide an opportunity for personal exploration that is difficult to achieve with other assessments.
The test attempts to assign you to one of sixteen different personality types, varying in four categories: Introversion or Extraversion, Sensing or iNtuition, Thinking or Feeling and Judging or Perceiving.

Furthermo
re, it is structured around four categories. They are:

  • Mind:

Introverted individuals prefer solitary activities and get exhausted by social interaction. They tend to be quite sensitive to external stimulation (e.g. sound, sight or smell) in general.

Extraverted individuals prefer group activities and get energized by social interaction. They tend to be more enthusiastic and more easily excited than Introverts.

  • Energy:

Sensing individuals are highly practical, pragmatic and down-to-earth. They tend to have strong habits and focus on what is happening or has already happened.

Intuitive individuals are very imaginative, open-minded and curious. They prefer novelty over stability and focus on hidden meanings and future possibilities.

  • Nature:

Thinking individuals focus on objectivity and rationality, prioritizing logic over efficiency as more important than cooperation.

Feeling individuals are sensitive and emotionally expressive. They are more empathic and less competitive than thinking types and focus on social harmony and cooperation.

  • Tactics:

Judging individuals are decisive, thorough and highly organized. They value clarity, predictability and closure, preferring structure and planning to spontaneity.

Perceiving individuals are very good at improvising and spotting opportunities. They tend to be more flexible, relaxed nonconformists who prefer leaping their options open.

These are all the personality types you can get by doing the MBTI test.

You can do the test yourself and find out more about your personality type in one of these sites:

In conclusion, the MBTI is a quick test that can help people understand personality differences in the general population.

However, someone’s personality is more complex than four little letters and this test is limited and made only to highlight how people are alike and different in certain aspects.
